What a joy it is to make beautiful wine with beautiful people coming together to make a difference. Our founders, Mark and Bill, combined their passion for wine, flying and health care by forming Wine into Wings, a non-profit 501(c)3 public benefit corporation. Doing business as Noble Hearts Cellars they attract like-minded people who join together, as an extended family, to celebrate life, family and friends around great wine and a common desire to help others.
Bill flew his first solo flight at the age of 16. Since then he has flown more than 3500 hours.. Bill has volunteered to fly more than 50 Angel Flight missions and more than 100 weekend free clinic missions for Mexican Medical Ministries into the poorest areas of Baja, Mexico.
Bill is retired from flying missions but his passion to support Angel Flight still drives him to support them financially through Noble Hearts Cellars.
He began making wine as an amateur in 2014 honing his skills to achieve a Double Gold and Best of Class for his 2018 Rose at the California State Fair. He continues to make wine at the amateur level learning from the professional wine makers who support our non-profit.
Bill is responsible for Family Member development and relations.
Mark is a Registered Nurse, private pilot, and former U.S. Army Armor Officer. Bill and Mark met over 30 years ago thru their love of aviation and flying into Baja Mexico. Mark and Bill completed a Trans-Pac sail to Hawaii together from California in 2005. Always a lover of wine, he returned from Hawaii and lives in an old farm house in the middle of a vineyard in Healdsburg California. One night sitting around the fire pit with Bill next to the vineyard he mused “I bet we can make some wine from these grapes and help Angel Flight West”.
Wine into Wings was born. Since then Mark has developed and is responsible for managing a network of growers and wineries in Sonoma who donate grapes and services to support Wine into Wings.
